JOIN A MOVE-IN

Move-ins are where the magic happens! When we are notified by a case worker that a refugee family has obtained housing, we schedule a move-in event to ensure that the family’s space feels like home. We assemble and arrange furniture donations, clean the bathroom and kitchen, make the beds, fill the cupboards, and stock the refrigerator before the family opens their front door for the first time. Our goal is to make every family feel welcome, safe, and comfortable.

Move-ins are announced on the HECR Facebook page. You can contribute to a move-in by donating items you are holding for a family, transporting items from storage, and being part of the setup crew. You choose how you want to participate.

To protect our volunteers and families during this pandemic, we ask that move-in volunteers be fully vaccinated and wear a mask while inside. Please adhere to CDC guidelines during these events.
